Felicia
The Kitten Who Wasn't Supposed to Stay
Felicia came into our family in 2016 completely by surprise. Ron was working remotely in the office one day when a neighbor boy rang the doorbell with a tiny kitten in his hands. He had found her alone in the woods beside her dead mother. Emmy brought the little kitten into the house and showed her to Ron while he was working.Ron took one look at her and said: “NO MORE PETS!” He finished his call, came downstairs, and promptly told Emmy: “Do NOT give her a name!” That lasted about as long as you might expect. On his very next break, Ron came back downstairs and asked: “What do you think about Felicia for a name?” And just like that, Felicia was ours. As a kitten, Felicia completely imprinted on Ron. She followed him everywhere, without fail, and she had plenty to say about whatever was going on around her. She was an extremely vocal little girl who made sure her people always knew exactly where she was. As she grew older, though, Felicia changed. These days, she's much quieter. She doesn't need to announce herself the way she once did. Instead, she has become an expert communicator through facial expressions and body language. If you know Felicia, you know what she's saying. When we moved to Handley Ranch, Felicia adapted to Farm life surprisingly quickly. The woods and open spaces seemed to suit her, and she settled comfortably into her new surroundings alongside her two sisters, Lalena and Senora. The little kitten who arrived at our door as an unexpected rescue became another permanent member of the Handley Ranch family. And Ron? Well, apparently “NO MORE PETS” wasn't a very firm policy after all. We're glad it wasn't. Felicia was never supposed to stay. But sometimes, the animals have other plans.
