Sometimes, the story of a dog doesn't end where you thought it would.
Luna was born at Handley Ranch in 2021, the first litter of Roxy and Max. She went home as a puppy with a wonderful mother-and-daughter team, Rene and Ashley Fellows, and for the next several years, Luna was exactly where she was meant to be—loved, cared for, and very much a part of her family.
Then life changed.
Rene passed away in August 2025. In the months that followed, Ashley found herself facing a situation no one could have anticipated. Luna could no longer remain with her family, and Ashley reached out to us for guidance and help.
That phone call is exactly why we have our Right of First Refusal agreement.
When we bring a puppy into this world, we don't simply hand it over and walk away. These dogs are part of our family, and we feel a responsibility to them for their entire lives. If circumstances ever make it necessary for one of our Rottweilers to be rehomed, we want to be there to help make sure that dog doesn't wind up in a shelter or, worse, euthanized.
So Luna came home.
And somehow, coming home seemed to suit her just fine.
After four years away, Luna is back at Handley Ranch, reconnecting with her mom, Roxy, and her dad, Max.
And, as Ron will quickly remind everyone—
Don't forget Grandpa!
Luna is now four years old, and watching her settle back into the Ranch has been something special. There is something almost surreal about seeing the puppy who once ran around here as part of Roxy and Max's first litter now standing beside them as a grown girl.
For Ashley, letting Luna go was undoubtedly difficult. But we are incredibly grateful that she trusted us enough to reach out and let us help.
Ashley is a wonderful young woman with a bright future ahead of her, and we are honored that our paths crossed with hers.
And for Luna?
Well, Luna has come full circle.
She was born here.
She grew up in a loving home.
Life took an unexpected turn.
And now she's home again.
Not because something went wrong.
But because sometimes, family means making room for one another when life changes.
Welcome home, Luna-butt.
We're awfully glad you're back.
