Diamond came to Handley Ranch in 2022 as a puppy, and from the beginning, we knew she was something special.

We named her Diamond in the RUFF because, well, sometimes the best things come wrapped in a little bit of puppy chaos.

She grew into a beautiful Rottweiler with the big block head, solid build, and rich mahogany markings that we love so much about the breed. But as beautiful as she is on the outside, it is Diamond's personality that really makes her shine.

She's smart.

Very smart.

Diamond learns quickly, pays attention to what is expected of her, and seems to understand that different situations call for different jobs. She can go from serious perimeter guard to playful goofball without missing a beat.

One minute she's making sure everything around the Farm is exactly where it ought to be.

The next minute she's tearing around the yard playing with Ruger.

And then there's her favorite job of all:

Clowning around with Ron.

Diamond has a wonderful ability to read the room—and the people in it. She knows when it's time to be serious, when it's time to play, and when it's time to simply relax.

And when the day's work is done, Diamond has absolutely no problem hanging up her security-guard hat and settling into her favorite evening routine.

Couch.

People.

Animal Planet.

Apparently, even a farm dog needs a little television after a hard day's work.

Diamond was brought to Handley Ranch with the intention of eventually becoming part of our Rottweiler breeding program once she was fully mature. But as we've learned over the years, the dogs who become part of our program first have to become part of our family.

And Diamond did that without any trouble at all.

She's affectionate, intelligent, loyal, playful, and just enough of a clown to keep life interesting.

She's our Farm girl.

Our watchdog.

Ruger's playmate.

Ron’s yard buddy.

And, when the sun goes down, our couch potato.

She may have started out as a little puppy we hoped would become part of the next generation of Handley Ranch Rottweilers.

But somewhere along the way, Diamond simply became Diamond.

And around here, that's a pretty valuable thing to be.
